Ways to contribute
Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund pushes back on polluters and their pals who fuel the climate crisis while perpetrating environmental racism in Texas communities.
To do that work, we rely on the financial support of individuals and organizations who share our values and priorities and want to help us collaborate with everyday Texans fighting for a pollution-free future.
Donate here today, or read more below about additional options for giving to TCE Fund.
Make a bequest
We all want to leave behind a better planet and a Texas free from pollution. You can support this vision for years to come by including Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund in your estate plans. A bequest is a gift made through a will or a living trust. It’s the most popular and easiest planned gift, it costs nothing during your lifetime, and it may help you reduce your estate taxes. A bequest can be included in a new will or added to an existing will or living trust through a simple amendment, often without the expense of hiring a lawyer. Click here for our guide to making a bequest, or contact us for more information.
Give tax-free with an IRA
You can make a difference today and save on your taxes by supporting Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund through your IRA. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover or qualified charitable distribution. If you’re at least 70½ years old, you can give any amount up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as TCEF without having to pay income taxes on the money. Beginning in the year you turn 73, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution. Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax. It’s simple and easy to make a gift through your IRA; all it takes is a letter to your IRA administrator asking them to make a direct payment to TCEF via check or wire transfer from your account. Click here to download a sample IRA qualified charitable distribution letter. No matter your age, you can designate TCEF as the beneficiary of all or a percentage of your IRA and it will pass to us tax-free after your lifetime. All you need to do is contact your IRA administrator and ask for a change-of-beneficiary form. Click here to download our guide to making a gift through your IRA.
Contribute stocks
You can also support TCE Fund by contributing stocks or securities. Your gift is equal to the fair market value of the stock, and you avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock if you held them for more than one year. You may also save by not incurring brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock. You can make your gift of stocks as an outright gift or by placing a transfer on death (TOD) designation on your investment account. Contact us to request more information!
Donate vehicles and/or personal property
Do you have an old automobile you’re not using that’s just taking up space in your driveway or garage? Don’t send it to the junkyard – donate it to help us raise money and you’ll get a tax write-off. It doesn’t matter if it runs or what shape it’s in (it doesn’t even have to be a car – we can take boats, motorcycles and RVs). There’s free towing, so there’s no work or cost for you. It’s as easy as filling out this online form and then watching us come and get it. You can also donate other kinds of personal property, such as art, antiques, and collections.
